At our agency, we are focused on ensuring that all of our neighbors have access to the services they need to live well and thrive. This April was Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and at our agency, we want to continue to support individuals living with Parkinson’s.
We want to extend a helping hand to the Parkinson’s Foundation Mid-Atlantic Chapter and support them on their mission to make life better for those living with this disease and drive understanding through research.
Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative condition that affects the brain’s dopamine production. Dopamine is a chemical that sends messages between nerve cells and muscle cells to help the body move. The motor symptoms we associate with Parkinson’s are not the only symptoms. Parkinson’s can cause urinary problems, mood changes, sleep disturbances, and cognitive deficits.
There is no cure for this degenerative disease, but organizations like the Parkinson’s Foundation are focused on advancing research that will change the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.
